Chamomile & Calendula Clarifying Salve is explicitly developed to hydrate, soothe and calm inflamed and acne prone skin. This natural topical blend is applied for relief and healing of acne breakouts, blemishes, red, and oily skin. It is also beneficial for diminishing rashes associated with eczema and other skin irritations. The key herbal components in this mix are chamomile, calendula and echinacea with added natural benefits of chickweed, dandelion, helichrysum, licorice, ginger root and white willow. Specialty oils like grapeseed, argan, babassu, grapeseed and jojoba are used for herbal infusions selected for their individual properties and purposes. Additionally, apricot kernel rosehip seed and tamanu oils contribute to this powerful mix to aid in healing, improving and promoting skin cells regeneration while supporting skin soothing and hydration. Kokum butter is ideal for treating dry or damaged skin, acting as emollient, while softening and soothing at the same time. Aloe Vera and witch hazel provide additional benefits for treating dry and irritated skin. Manuka honey acts as a natural soothing humectant enhancing hydration and helping regeneration of damaged skin cells. Properties of bentonite clay and zinc oxide further help with treating skin inflammation issues. Carefully chosen essential oils provide their own healing, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial benefits. Vitamins A and E work together to improve the skin tone and texture.

This salve is NOT a cure, however can aid in reducing the overall discomfort and appearance of acne or other skin ailments symptoms.
The results from applying Chamomile & Calendula Clarifying Salve will be different from person to person.
Caution is advised for people with tree nut allergies. A small patch test is recommended to ensure absence of allergic reaction.

Apply to affected areas as often as 3 times per day for relief after washing or bathing.

Botanicals

Antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and skin soothing flower known to help to heal and regenerate skin, reduce swelling and relieve inflammation and irritations and other skin discomforts. Rich in antioxidant compounds that help to protect skin from stressors causing dryness, irritation, breakouts and inflammation.

Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, skin-soothing rich in powerful flavonoids herb noted for its analgesic abilities to ease inflammation of joints, muscle pain, rheumatism and sprains, and help to heal and calm skin rashes, acne, and eczema. Since it contains flavonoids, including apigenin and quercetin, it is excellent choice to use in skin care to support skin regeneration and collagen production and protect free radical damage.

Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and high levels of vitamin A, C, E and B. Chickweed (Stellaria media) is a weedy plant esteemed for easing pain from aching joints, accelerating the healing of wounds and bruises, and providing soothing and calming relief for inflamed, itchy, dry and irritated skin. As a topical it works as an excellent emollient and calms skin ailments including eczema, psoriasis and acne. It is also effective in treating eye inflammation, minimizing swelling and alleviating damaged skin due to bug bites, rashes, boils or burns.

Antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant rich in allantoin herb prized for its abilities to heal bone, muscle pains, bruises, wounds by promoting the rapid regeneration of damaged skin cells and tissue as well as relieve inflammation and ease irritation from rashes and other skin discomforts. High in vitamins and nutrients like vitamin B12, zinc and carotenes.

Echinacea purpurea, commonly known as a purple coneflower is a perennial member of the sunflower family rich in antioxidants including rosmarinic, cichoric, phenolic and caffeic acids as well as flavonoids, polyacetylenes and alkamides. Thanks to its antiseptic, mild antibiotic, antiviral, astringent and anti-fungal properties echinacea is a perfect addition in topicals for protection from free radicals, helping to increase skin regeneration, reducing swelling, healing of wounds and treatment for inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, acne, and athlete’s foot at the same time improving skin hydration, texture and tone.

Anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, rich in antioxidants and flavonoids Helichrysum arenarium is a member of the Asteraceae family and a natural emollient remedy used in topicals for a wide range of conditions from damaged skin and wound healing, scars, burns, bruising, cuts, scrapes and acne to reducing effects of aging like age spots, discoloration and wrinkles. Possessing soothing and hydrating abilities it promotes regeneration of skin cells and evens skin tone. It is well-suited for all skin types, especially effective for acne-prone oily skin, mature or sensitive skin.

Licorice root (glycyrrhiza glabra) is a soothing antioxidant herb rich in flavonoid, niacinamide, vitamin C and glycyrrhizins that has potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiviral properties beneficial for neutralizing free radicals and treating many skin conditions. Licorice boosts the anti-inflammatory and healing impact of topicals by reducing symptoms of acne, eczema, rashes, the redness from rosacea and other skin irritations. Additionally, as licorice contains liquiritin and licochalcone that help to reducing production of sebum and remove melanin (pigment) in the skin, it is a perfect agent for improving skin tone, reducing discolorations and the appearance of dark spots. Witch hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana) is derived from the bark and leaves of a large, flowering shrub. It is rich in natural chemicals, including gallic acid, tannins, flavonoids and resin, has a high astringent content, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that aid in treatment of multiple skin ailments. Witch hazel provides natural deep hydration and helps to restore water loss making it a perfect addition to topicals for soothing and calming inflamed and irritated skin. It is especially beneficial for dry and itchy skin caused by eczema. It also provides relief for insect bites and stings, minor wounds, cold sores and swelling.

Botanical Extracts

Aloe Vera : Prized for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties and one of the best natural remedies for irritated, inflamed skin, fighting bacteria and promoting wound healing. Its skin-soothing, skin-softening and hydrating abilities bring relief to burns, rushes, and reduces redness. It is rich in vitamin C and E, and beta-carotene enhancing production of collagen in the body and improving skin tone. It absorbs quickly and unclogs pores.

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) has been valued for its anti-inflammatory, mild analgesic (pain reliever) and potent antioxidant (beta carotene, polyphenols, flavonoids) properties that help fight free radicals, protect skin from damage, help to reduce inflammation, aid the relief of sore muscles and joint pain, and calm irritated, chapped, dry skin while hydrating and aiding skin cell regeneration. It is beneficial in prevention and treatment of certain types of acne and eczema as well as fungal skin infections.

Powerful antiviral, anti-parasitic, natural antioxidant herb that fights inflammation and aids digestion. In topical application, ginger decreases soreness of muscles, helps to increase circulation, and promotes healthy and smooth skin. It is also effective in relieving pain associated with migraine headaches.

Green tea is loaded with antioxidants, flavonoids and tannins and is noted for its anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing properties that help to control sebum (oil) production, stop bacteria, and reduce inflammation and skin irritation including acne.

White willow bark is rich in tannins, flavonoids, phenolic acids and most importantly salicin, a medical compound similar in makeup to aspirin. Since salicylic acid is an effective exfoliant applied topically, it aids skin rejuvenation by discarding dead skin cells and clearing pores. Thus, white willow’s astringent properties make it a natural remedy for treating a variety of skin conditions including mild to moderate acne, blemishes, warts, reducing skin redness and inflammation while improving skin texture and tone.

Carrier Oils

Gentle, light, easily absorbed, highly moisturizing, skin soothing and softening carrier oil well suited for all skin types, including combination, sensitive or acne-prone skin. Rich in oleic and linoleic acid, vitamins A, C and E, Omegas 9, 6, and 3, and palmitic and stearic acid that give it effective anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-aging, antiseptic, and anti-bacterial properties. In topicals, apricot oil is highly beneficial for cell regeneration, rejuvenating and keeping skin healthy, protecting it from inflammation and free radicals, and acting as a natural sunscreen. Babassu oil (Orbignya oleifera) derived from cold pressing the nut of a native Brazilian palm tree is lightweight and moisturizing, absorbing quickly into skin making it beneficial for all skin types. Rich in Vitamin E, antioxidants and healthy fatty acids such as lauric, oleic, palmitic, stearic and myristic acids. It is an excellent choice to use as a natural anti-inflammatory agent for skin hydration and wound care, scar healing, inflammation, soothing irritation and itching, and repairing dry, chopped or damage skin. Effective and enriching emollient for facial topicals because it does not clog pores and contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help to improve skin texture and reduce bacteria that cause acne. Healing and hydrating properties of babassu oil are beneficial to skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis or rosacea.

Noncomedogenic, mildly astringent, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic. Lightweight and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feeling. High in the antioxidant vitamins C and E. Rich in oleic, linoleic, palmitic, and Omega 6 fatty acids that help to moisturize skin and maintain moisture balance. Contains the strong antioxidant flavonoid oligomeric procyanidin that is almost 50x more powerful than vitamins A and E. Reduces fine lines, helps to lighten skin discolorations and control skin breaks.

Versatile natural emollient rich in vitamin E that acts as an antioxidant, with antibacterial and antifungal properties, also contains anti-inflammatory myristic acid. Having a consistency similar to that of oil naturally produced by human skin (sebum) it is absorbed easily and beneficial for all types of skin. Tamanu oil is derived from the seeds of the tamanu nut tree that grows in Southeast Asia and has a strong nutty scent. It is rich in fatty acids, both oleic and linoleic, making it a powerful emollient with ability to deeply penetrate and hydrate skin layers. Beneficial for a numerous skin condition due to its powerful natural anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant abilities. It helps maintain balance in skin production of surplus sebum and fights bacteria associated with acne, making it an idea addition to topicals for treating oily skin and healing acne breakouts. Due to its high astringent and antioxidant content, tamanu oil provides protection from free radicals and naturally improves skin tone and complexion by stimulating new skin tissues growth, reducing sun damage, age spots and other signs of aging. Additionally, since tamanu oil is enriched with a high level of anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties, it is effective in helping to treat psoriasis and eczema, minor burns, bruises, scars, sores as well as promoting healing of wounds. Cosmetic Butters

Rich, creamy and lightweight cosmetic plant butter that moisturizes and softens skin. Non-comedogenic and easily absorbed beneficial to use with all skin types including acne-prone or sensitive skin. Rich in vitamin E and many powerful antioxidants. Skin nourishing and soothing properties are ideal for dry, inflamed or damaged by radical elements skin. It improves skin cell regeneration, helps to heal wounds, reduces and prevents skin aging, restores moisture and reduces skin inflammation. Kokum butter is identified as the most structurally and chemically stable plant butter with its ability as a natural emulsifier.

Essential Oils

Clove is an essential oil derived from the dried flowers buds of the clove tree valued in topicals for its strong antiseptics, antifungal and antimicrobial properties effective in relieving itching, promoting wound healing, and stopping growth of bacteria and fungi. It can be used to treat acne, skin ulcers and sores as well as parasites such as scabies.

Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic and skin-soothing essential oil with astringent qualities that evens out the skin tone regenerating new skin cells, hydrating and improving imperfections like age spots, redness, scars and blemishes. It is also effective reducing swelling, joint and muscle pain, and arthritis. As frankincense is a rather powerful essential oil, it is advised to perform a patch test applying a new product to prevent any allergic reaction, especially with sensitive skin.  

Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal and astringent essential oil that is rich in vitamin A, B6 and C. It is beneficial for healthy skin as it helps to rejuvenate, soothe, moisturize, brighten and boost the skin tone while reducing excessive skin oil and opening clogged skin pores. Since it has antifungal properties, it is used to treat many fungal infections.

Antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, and antiviral properties of the tea tree oil allow it to destroy bacteria in wounds avoiding infections and soothe redness and itchy skin while healing. It helps to regulate skin oil production reducing breakouts from acne and lessens the effects of eczema. It is also beneficial for many other skin conditions as well as providing relief from bug bites, burns and cuts.

Additional Ingredients

Bentonite clay is a natural volcanic clay capable of absorbing fine particles including bacteria, oils and toxins from the skin. It cleanses the skin deeply, preventing pores from getting clogged, reducing the chance of breakouts and absorbing excess oil from the skin while acting as a gentle exfoliant and soothing agent. Added in topicals, it improves the overall appearance of skin by helping to heal damaged skin cells due to scars, dark spots and acne. It is also beneficial to treat diaper rash and heal skin affected by poison ivy rash. This works great on healing damaged skin tissues and rejuvenating your skin cells.

Carnauba wax is a natural, vegan wax that comes from the leaves of the Copernicia cerifera botanical, a Brazilian palm tree called “The Tree of Life”. It is used as an emulsifying, thickening and skin-softening agent that is compatible with all oils and prolonging a shelf life of products.  

Manuka honey is a premium type of honey derived from the manuka bush found in New Zealand that is rich in a rare methylglyoxal (MG) compound. In addition, manuka honey contains high levels of vitamin B, amino acids and many minerals including calcium, copper, iron, potassium, sodium, and zinc. Thanks to its high anti-inflammatory and antibacterial nature as well as its acidic properties manuka honey is used as a natural emollient for dry or itchy skin, treatment for wounds, cuts and scrapes as well as healing and clearing infections, blemishes and reducing scars, inflammation and breakouts in acne-prone skin. Since honey is low in moisture it helps to dry wounds thus destroying bacteria as bacteria need fluids to flourish. Applied topically it is also effective in calming skin affected by eczema and anti-fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot.
Caution: If you’re allergic to pollen or bee stings, patch test topicals with manuka honey.

Montanov 68 is a non-ionic, eco-friendly, non-irritant and non-comedogenic liquid crystal emulsifier that helps to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions while moisturizing skin.

It is a stabilizing, a microbiome-friendly, self-emulsifier considered as a natural alternative to waxes containing ethoxylated compounds. It is biodegradable and vegan based ingredient that is also highly moisturizing.

Vitamin A, in the form of retinol, is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent helping to maintain skin health by exfoliating, promoting new skin tissue and cell growth, removing excess oil, bacteria and dead skin cells from pores while protecting skin from harmful irritants. Thus, Vit A is effective in topicals for preventing acne breakout. It is also noted for its ability to stimulate collagen production that aids in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Anti-inflammatory, mildly astringent, antiseptic and antibacterial as well as light rays-blocking zinc oxide provides relief to irritated, inflamed and chapped skin while balancing oil production and stimulating new tissue growth. In addition to being used as a natural and non-toxic broad spectrum ultraviolet sunscreen, zinc oxide is noted to be effective in the treatment and prevention of acne, healing of wounds, minor burns and rashes, including diaper rash.
