White Willow Soothing Salve is explicitly developed to deal with persistent skin conditions such as irritated, inflamed, flaky, scaling, and itchy skin associated with psoriasis and eczema. The main herbal components in this potent topical mix are white willow, licorice, chickweed, plantain, and calendula with added natural benefits of dandelion, helichrysum, ginger, and St. John’s wort. Each of these botanicals are carefully selected for their healing properties, however, white willow’s is essential in this remedy as it is rich in salicin, an effective exfoliant and aid in reducing skin redness and inflammation. Specialty oils like grapeseed, sunflower, babassu and jojoba oils are used for herbal infusions to support skin health. Additionally, neem, borage and apricot kernel oil contribute to this powerful mix to help healing, improve, and promote the regeneration of skin tissues while supporting skin soothing and hydration. Mango and kokum butters are ideal for treating dry or damaged skin, acting as a skin emollient, softening, and soothing at the same time. Aloe Vera extract and witch hazel provide extra benefits for treating skin irritations. Glycerin acts as a lightweight humectant retaining and preserving the natural moisture of skin and soothing dry skin as well. A small amount of carnauba wax thickens the mix while adding further protection. Vitamins B and E bring their own antioxidant properties to the blend. Carefully chosen essential oils provide their own anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial benefits while at the same time masking the exceptionally strong scent of neem oil.
Depending on the skin type, this salve may be on the oily side when first applied. Not recommended for young children due the presence of neem oil.

This salve is NOT a cure, however can aid in reducing the overall discomfort and appearance of psoriasis, eczema or other persistent itchy skin ailments.
The results from applying White Willow Soothing Salve will be different from person to person.

Do not use this salve if you have any chickweed or tree nut allergies. A small patch test is recommended to ensure absence of allergic reaction.
Apply to affected areas as often as 3 times per day for relief, especially after washing or bathing.

Botanicals

Chickweed (Stellaria media) is a weedy plant esteemed for easing pain from aching joints, accelerating the healing of wounds and bruises, and providing soothing and calming relief for inflamed, itchy, dry and irritated skin. As a topical it works as an excellent emollient and calms skin ailments including eczema, psoriasis and acne. It is also effective in treating eye inflammation, minimizing swelling and alleviating damaged skin due to bug bites, rashes, boils or burns.
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) has been valued for its anti-inflammatory, mild analgesic (pain reliever) and potent antioxidant (beta carotene, polyphenols, flavonoids) properties that help fight free radicals, protect skin from damage, help to reduce inflammation, aid the relief of sore muscles and joint pain, and calm irritated, chapped, dry skin while hydrating and aiding skin cell regeneration. It is beneficial in prevention and treatment of certain types of acne and eczema as well as fungal skin infections.

White willow (Salix alba) bark is rich in tannins, flavonoids, phenolic acids and most importantly salicin, a medical compound similar in makeup to aspirin. Carrier Oils

Borage oil is derived from the seeds of the annual Borago officinalis commonly called the starflower and is the richest, at 24% plant source of an essential omega-6 fatty acid called gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is extremely effective in boosting hydration and keeping skin healthy, including improving inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, acne, rosacea and psoriasis. Additionally, it is rich in minerals and antioxidants including stearic acid, eicosenoic acid, palmitic acid, nervonic acid, and erucic acid. Creamy, skin-softening and moisturizing plant butter rich in vitamins C, A and E, fatty acids, salicylic acid and antioxidants that hydrate and nourish skin and protect it from sun damage. Vitamin C component aids wound healing and helps to improve skin complexion, calm redness, even out natural skin tone and lessens hyperpigmentation. Vitamin A component helps to reduce many signs of aging, including wrinkles and improves skin texture and tone. Mango butter’s properties to smooth and soothe are especially comforting for dry, irritated or itchy skin. Mango butter is beneficial for most skin types, but caution should be taken if using in face products as it has a comedogenic rating at 2 and may clog pores.
Essential Oils
Geranium: Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant and astringent properties make geranium essential oil a perfect agent to use for improving skin appearance and balance, help with hyperpigmentation, healing and regeneration of damaged skin cells, and reducing skin inflammatory conditions like irritations and infections.
Manuka essential oil is derived from Manuka honey, a premium type of honey extracted from the manuka bush found in New Zealand that is rich in a rare methylglyoxal (MG) compound. Manuka EO contains high levels of vitamin B, amino acids and many minerals including calcium, copper, iron, potassium, sodium, and zinc.
